In 2011, Statistics South Africa documented a population of 46,686 residents in Kuils River, with 21.3% falling within the youth bracket of 0 to 14 years old. The scarcity of soccer clubs in the area highlighted a pressing need for youth engagement. It was against this backdrop that the idea of Newman’s Football Club was born, officially kicking off as a football club in 2022.
At Newmans FC, we believe in the transformative power of soccer. Beyond honing athletic skills, our club fosters teamwork, leadership, and resilience among our players. Through expert coaching, available facilities, and a supportive environment, we empower the next generation of athletes to reach their full potential, both on and off the field.
About Our Founder
Nathan Newman, the club’s founder, boasts a rich background in soccer, having actively played the beloved sport himself. His commitment to nurturing talent was evident during his tenure overseeing the sports curriculum at Rouxville Primary School. Subsequently, he transitioned to the Department of Education, driven by a desire to leverage his expertise for broader community impact. He currently holds the role of School Enrichment Officer for the Western Cape Education District Office.
Mr. Newman, an esteemed alumnus of ETA Stellenbosch with a Sports Science Diploma, also holds a credential in physical education, alongside a CAF D-license sanctioned by the South African Football Association. Currently pursuing his CAF C-license, his dedication to furthering his expertise is evident. Adorned with a collection of trophies, Mr. Newman exemplifies precision and strategic acumen in his pursuits.
Our Mission and Impact
Our mission is to provide a safe and inclusive space for children aged 7-18, regardless of their background or gender. We cater to boys and girls, offering them the opportunity to develop their skills, build character, and find a sense of belonging within the community.
Every Sunday, we host a free soccer skills clinic for children aged 7-13, providing an accessible platform for young enthusiasts to learn and grow. Our club, with its humble beginnings, is fast becoming one of the top contenders in local competitions, inspiring many and fostering community spirit.
Our Team and Coaching Philosophy
It’s truly remarkable to collaborate with a team who share the same fervor for football, youth development, and community impact. Our coaches exemplify robust leadership skills, adept at guiding and motivating players both on and off the field. We strongly advocate for effective communication tactics, offering feedback, and nurturing a positive team atmosphere. Our coaches possess the flexibility to adjust strategies and approaches to align with the ever-changing dynamics of the game and the distinct strengths and weaknesses of our team.
